St. Joseph's Prep rugby team hosts Third Annual Save Second Base Rugby Tournament
Philadelphia, PA - May 16, 2010: St. Joseph's Prep hosted South Jersey, West Chester East, Rustin, Valley Forge, and Conestoga Rugby Football Clubs in the Third Annual Save Second Base Rugby Tournament. The Championship game ended with St. Joseph's Prep defeating Conestoga 34-10. Funds raised will benefit Save Second Base and The Kelly Rooney Foundation.
Fourth Annual Golf Outing and Auction raises $150,000
Newtown Square, PA - May 10, 2010: The Fourth Annual Golf Outing and Auction raised over $150,000 this year, exceeding expectations. Monies raised will continue to fund breast cancer research, education and awareness programs.

St. Jospeh's Prep and Haverford face off against breast cancer
Wayne, PA - May 4, 2010: St. Joseph's Prepatoryand Haverford School varsity lacrosse teams faced off against breast cancer in celebration of Mother's Day and to create awareness for The Kelly Rooney Foundation. The host Hawks wore special white jerseys with The Kelly Rooney Foundation logo and pink numbers. Haverford School players wore their blue “Checking for Cancer” jerseys, the same ones worn several weeks ago in their invitational created to raise funds and awareness for men’s cancers. Both teams also wore special Kelly Rooney Foundation undershirts.
Kelly Rooney Middle School Girls LAX Tournament proves a huge success
Bryn Mawr, PA - May 1, 2010: Country Day School of the Sacred Heart hosted the inaugural Kelly Rooney Middle School Girls LAX Tournament attracting 12 seventh and eighth grade teams and approximatley 270 girls. Six of the teams hailed from Philadelphia metro schools and 6 were from Philadelphia metro lacrosse clubs. Funds were raised through entry fees, sponsorships from Wayne Sporting Goods and LAXgirlz, sales of lacrosse wear by LAXgirlz, and donations from Apple Vacations, the Popper Family and Beth Rafferty of Prudential Fox Realty. The playoff game included St. Katherine's School of Wayne and Lower Merion Lacrosse Club teams and ended in a 5-5 tie. Event organizers hope that the Kelly Rooney Middle School Girls LAX Tournament will become an annual event and grow to be as successful as the EvanFest Lacrosse Middle School Boys Tournament held every year. Bryn Mawr - April 12, 2010: Molly Rooney, Country Day School of the Sacred Heart defense player, and Casey Rooney, Merion Mercy Academy attack player, were hostesses for a special lacrosse event honoring their mother, Kelly Rooney. Sean Rooney, father of Molly and Casey provided all the players of both teams and the coaches with warm-up t-shirts, pink for Sacred Heart and white for Merion, as well as numbered pins for the game. At the game volunteers manned a booth selling items to benefit the Kelly Rooney Foundation. The Kelly Rooney Foundation collected over $2,000 at the game. |
